Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
If your young child (ages 2.5-7 years old) is struggling with emotion regulation, maintaining attention, practicing safe behaviors, and following your directions, PCIT will teach you how to help them build up each of these skillsets. PCIT is a highly effective therapy that is divided into two phases and shows you, as the caregiver, how to be your child's therapist at home so that you feel equipped to manage any situation at any time.
PCIT teaches you how to use positive attention and consistent, predictable discipline to:
-Enhance your relationship with your child
-Manage your child's difficult behavior
-Improve your child's emotion regulation skills
-Decrease your child's aggression
-Increase your child's compliance​
-Improve your child's attention span
-Enhance your child's self-esteem
PCIT Adaptations: PCIT-Toddlers and PCIT for Older Children
PCIT-Toddlers is designed for children 12 months through 3 years old. This adaptation uses the same positive attention strategies as the standard model, and adds skills to teach caregivers how to co-regulate with their child. This helps their child develop the building blocks of emotion regulation, listening, language, and social skills.

The Older Child adaptation of PCIT is designed for children 7-10 years old. This adaptation takes the fundamental tools of PCIT and expands them to meet the developmental needs of older children by adjusting how both positive attention is shown, as well as how discipline is administered.
Family Therapy
You may feel confused and stuck in your relationship with your child or other family members, but are looking for a different approach than PCIT. Learning new strategies or looking at your relationship from a different lens will help you feel more confident in supporting your loved one, managing difficult behavior, and developing stronger relationships with your family. We will work together to find an approach that is individually tailored to help you reach your treatment objectives using evidence-based interventions.
Common goals for family therapy include:
-Improving communication
-Practicing assertiveness skills
-Creating/improving behavior systems to support children
Parent Skills Training

For parents and caregivers who would like to learn more effective tools to manage their child's behaviors, parent skills training can be an excellent support to shifting unhelpful patterns at home. I utilize specific, evidence-based behavioral strategies to empower parents to create better relationships with their children and improve their home environment.
